Courses at Capel Manor College focus on teaching practical skills in working environments, we have exceptional arboriculture and countryside management tutors who are all industry-experienced.

Arboriculture is a vital industry involved with the planting, care and maintenance of trees in woodlands, rural and urban areas. It is closely linked to forestry, which is the science and practice of managing forests and woodlands. Our students go on to set up their own businesses, or to work as tree surgeons for employers and contractors, others build careers as tree officers, tree surveyors, tree inspectors, arborists, climbers and groundspeople.

Countryside management is managing, protecting and improving the countryside whilst encouraging people to visit and enjoy the land. Environmental conservation work involves the preservation of landscapes, habitats and wildlife, constantly working to improve the environment at a local and national level.

Careers in countryside management and environmental conservation require specialist knowledge and a passion for the countryside, there are career opportunities in landscape, habitat and species management, countryside recreation, planning and parks and even climate change. Opportunities exist in a range of organisations from government departments to local authorities, charities and the voluntary sector.

The outdoor adventure industry is rapidly growing because of an increasing participation and interest in all sorts of outdoor sports and activities. Careers in the industry involve leading and running a wide-range of outdoor physical activities and resources, encouraging people to enjoy outdoor recreation and improve their fitness in an enjoyable and safe way – through activities like climbing, orienteering and expeditions.

Our courses will give you an opportunity to gain nationally and internationally recognised qualifications with the prospect of progressing to further study, Higher Education, employment or starting your own business venture whilst learning in a unique and supportive environment.

Our practical lessons range from felling trees to orienteering. You will need to have a certain level of physical fitness due to the practical nature of these courses.

We have full-time, part-time, evening and short courses and Apprenticeships, please come to one of our Open Days or Advice Evenings, you will have an opportunity to discuss courses with our tutors to determine which course is right for you.
